The format, section by section
- Personal detailsव्यक्तिगत जानकारी
- Full name, date, time and place of birth, height, diet, marital status and the city she lives in now. Write facts only; no adjectives here.
- Educationशिक्षा
- Her highest qualification first, with the subject. Add the college only if it is well known or matters to your community.
- Workव्यवसाय
- Job title, the kind of company and the city. If she is studying, preparing for an exam or taking a break, say that plainly. Families often ask whether she plans to keep working, so it helps to answer in partner expectations.
- Horoscope and communityकुंडली व समाज
- Community, gotra, rashi, nakshatra and manglik status, if your family matches kundli. Keep the full kundli ready to send separately.
- Familyपारिवारिक जानकारी
- Parents’ names and work, brothers and sisters with whether they are married, native place and family type.
- About meमेरे बारे में
- Three or four sentences in her voice: her nature, what she enjoys, what she values. Specific is better than grand: “I love Kathak and long walks” says more than “I am talented”.
- Partner expectationsजीवनसाथी से अपेक्षाएँ
- Two or three lines on education, values, city and career. Keep the tone warm; a long list of conditions reads as a demand.
- Contactसंपर्क
- A parent’s or guardian’s name and number. Her own number and the home address can wait until families have spoken.
Writing about her with respect
A daughter’s biodata is often written by her parents, and it can slip into describing her the way an advertisement would. A few changes make it read better and feel more like her:
- Leave out complexion, weight and words like “homely”, “fair” or “slim”. The photo is enough.
- Mention cooking, music or other interests only if she enjoys them, not to impress the other family.
- Write her career as it is. If she wants to keep working after marriage, say so clearly.
- Describe the family warmly and briefly. Two or three lines is enough.
If you are not sure what to write, read our guidance in the Hindi biodata format and Marathi biodata format guides, which include the usual terms families use.
Keeping her details private
Biodata get forwarded far beyond the first family you send them to. On SevenVows you can share a link instead of a file: the photo can be hidden, the phone number and address are left off unless you choose to add them, and you can delete the link once a match is settled.
