About me

I am easy-going, dependable and close to my family. I enjoy my work in aircraft design, and on weekends I play badminton, cook South Indian breakfasts and read. I don’t smoke or drink.

About my family

We are a simple, close-knit family from Udupi, settled in Mysuru. My father taught physics for thirty years and my mother runs our home.

Partner expectations

An educated, warm partner who values family. Whether she works is her choice; we would like to live in Hyderabad for now.

What families notice first

  • Work and city. Be specific: “Senior design engineer, aerospace company, Hyderabad” is clearer than “working in a reputed MNC”.
  • Tone. A biodata that reads as calm and honest makes a better first impression than one full of praise.
  • Expectations. Short and respectful. Never mention dowry or gifts in any form; asking for dowry is an offence under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

In Hindi or Marathi

Many families send a biodata in their own language to elders and an English one to everyone else. See the Hindi biodata format and Marathi biodata format for the right terms. On SevenVows you fill the details once and switch the language before you download.

Questions families ask

Should a boy’s biodata mention his income?

Most families expect it, so it saves a question. Write the annual figure in lakhs, for example ₹ 24 lakh. If you would rather discuss it in person, write the job and company clearly and leave the income out.

He works abroad. What should we write?

Write the city and country, the job and company, and his visa or residency status if families in your community ask about it. If he plans to return to India, say roughly when; this is often the first question.

Is it fine to mention that he doesn’t smoke or drink?

Yes. One short line in ‘About me’ is enough, such as ‘I don’t smoke or drink’. In Marathi biodata the word निर्व्यसनी is often used.

Should we list property or the family house?

If you mention it, keep it short and factual, such as ‘own house in Mysuru’ in the family section. A long list of assets reads as boasting.

What photo works best for a boy’s biodata?

A recent, well-lit photo where his face is clear, in a plain shirt or traditional kurta, against a plain background. Avoid sunglasses, caps, bike or car photos and group pictures.
